Yene Konjo: Portraits of a People

A black and white photography exhibit of portraits by Gilles Perrin at N’Namdi Center for Contemporary Art in Detroit

“Yene Konjo” is an Amharic (Ethiopian) phrase that translates as “My Beautiful”. These striking black and white portraits capture the complex beauty of each individual depicted.
The photographs shown in Yene Konjo: Portraits of a People, were taken in Ethiopia, Mali, and Niger between 2001 and 2008.
